I accompanied a deaf person to the National Insurance Institute.
أنا عم بترجم له وهو عصب عالموظفة.
I was translating for him while he was angry at the clerk.
فالموظفة فكرت إنه أنا اللي عم بصيح عليها.
So the clerk thought I was the one yelling at her.
أغرب محل ترجمت فيه لغة إشارة غرفة العمليات.
The strangest place I interpreted sign language was the operating room.
فصارت تصيح علي ففكر إنه هي بتصيح عليه.
So she started yelling at me, and he thought she was yelling at him.
وفات الإشي ببعضه.
And everything got mixed up.
في طفل اللي هو بصفي كان أنا معلمته.
There was a child in my class whose teacher I was.
أخته الكبيرة كمان صماء.
His older sister was also deaf.
عملوا حادث والطفل توفى.

فحبيت الموضوع.
So I loved the subject.

We had a car wash business.
أداروها ناس صم.
It was managed by deaf people.
بلشت في المساعدة بعدها صرت أشتغل.
I started helping, then I started working.

I learned sign language, how to translate
وكل هاي الأمور وبلشت أشتغل شوي شوي.
and all these things, and I started working little by little.
كان كثير انتقادات في الأول بس إسا
There was a lot of criticism at first, but nowadays

The deaf person is a normal human being.
عنده القدرة إنه يعطي ويشتغل فانطوهم الفرصة.
He has the ability to give and work, so give them the chance.
وفي صم اللي ما بيستغلوا حقوقهم للصم.
And there are deaf who do not utilize their rights for the deaf.
لأنه فيه كثير حقوق اللي رايحة هدر.
Because there are many rights that are going to waste.
بعد فيه كثير مجال للتحسين.
There is still much room for improvement.

تفوت على المدارس على الأقل
