هيك عشت لحالي
This is how I lived alone
بدون حدا أحكي معه
Without anyone to talk to
وبهذا الشكل مرقوا الأيام
And in this way the days passed
لحد ما خربت طيارتي
Until my plane broke down
بحادث بالصحراء
In an accident in the desert
هذا الحادث صار قبل ست سنين
This accident happened six years ago
لما صار في خراب بموتور طيارتي
When there was a breakdown in my plane's engine
وعشان ما كانش معي ميكانيكي
And because I didn't have a mechanic with me
ولا ركاب
Nor passengers
حاولت أصلح هذا الخراب الصعب بنفسي
I tried to fix this difficult breakdown by myself
لأنه الموضوع كان بالنسبة إلي
Because the matter was for me
موضوع حياة أو موت
A matter of life or death
وهذا عشان كمية المي
And this was because of the amount of water
اللي كانت معي
That I had with me
بالكاد كانت تكفي لأسبوع
Was barely enough for a week
أول ليلة نمت على الرمل
The first night I slept on the sand
بمحل بيبعد حوالي ألف ميل
In a place about a thousand miles away
عن أقرب بلد
From the nearest inhabited land
كنت وحيد أكثر من بحار
I was more alone than a sailor
اللي سفينته غرقت
Whose ship had sunk
وهو طايش على خشبة
And he is floating on a piece of wood
بقلب المحيط
In the heart of the ocean
ومن شان هيك
And for this reason
أكيد بتقدروا تتصوروا دهشتي
Surely you can imagine my amazement
لما سمعت صوت رفيع
When I heard a thin voice
عم بيصحيني بساعة الفجر
Waking me up at the hour of dawn
وبيقولي
And saying to me
